Great American Song Contest

  Why This Contest Is Best!

As songwriters we understand the value of winning a prestigious songwriting event. We want to gain recognition for our work and find opportunities in the music business.

However, we're NOT interested in big commercial contests, the so-called "song lotteries" that attract 20,000 to 30,000 songs each year. They tend to offer a lot of exaggerated hype but fail to provide entrants with a way to know their songs were properly reviewed.

Another problem with these big competitions is obvious: They reward only a few winners while other songwriters receive nothing of value for their entry fees and creative efforts.

As a trusted educational resource for songwriters, Songwriters Resource Network sponsors a positive and practical alternative to "Big-Cash-Prize" competitions.

The annual Great American Song Contest is a genuinely helpful songwriting event that benefits EVERY songwriter, lyricist and composer who enters.

The underlying philosophy of the Great American Song Contest is based on this principle: "A worthwhile song contest is less about money and more about providing meaningful opportunities for songwriters to develop their craft and market their songs."

* Reasons Why This Contest Is Best *

More Winners! More Awards: Instead of just a few people winning everything, the Great American Song Contest offers multiple awards and prizes in all categories — a total of 45 awards, 5 per category!

Knowledgeable & Supportive Judges: Great American Song Contest judges thoroughly review each and every song, then provide detailed evaluations. Every songwriter receives a written evaluation of their songs from the contest Judges.

Accountability: Unlike other songwriting contests, the Great American Song Contest is transparently accountable to songwriters. You won't need to wonder if your songs are listened to and thoroughly reviewed. That will be obvious from the detailed written evaluations you'll receive from the contest judges.

No Unfair Creative Bias: Some contests favor "commercial" songs over "artistic" songs. Judges in the Great American Song Contest weigh commercial songs equally with creative, artistic songs. What Songwriters Are Saying

No Arbitrary Time Limits: All songs are judged on their own merits. Unlike most other contests, no arbitrary length is imposed on any song.

Fair and Limited Competition: The Great American Song Contest invites amateur and semi-pro songwriters only not established professionals (see Rules & Entry). Other competitions don't make this distinction so their winners can be professionals with successful careers and lucrative publishing contracts.

Affordable Entry Fees: Isn't it amazing how much some contests charge — especially when they offer no real benefit to the vast majority of songwriters who enter?

The Great American Song Contest offers affordable entry fees AND provides a rewarding experience for EVERYONE who participates!

In addition, the Great American Song Contest proudly presents some of the music industry's top judges!
