 I CAN'
T STOP THE RAIN

HARD TO REMEMBER / THE SUNNY BLUE SKY
RAIN KEEPS ON FALLING / AND THE RIVER'S TOO HIGH
THEY SAY AROUND MIDNIGHT / THE RIVER WILL CREST
REVEALING THE SECRET / OF HER COLD MUDDY BREAST

  I KNOW YOU'RE LEAVING / I'M DROWNING IN PAIN
THE RIVER'S RISING / AND I CAN'T STOP THE RAIN

HOW MANY LOVERS / HAVE STOOD ON THIS BRIDGE
ASKING THE RIVER / TO FORGET AND FORGIVE
TO GATHER THEIR TEARDROPS / AND WASH THEM AWAY
TO KEEP HER DEEP SECRET / FOR ANOTHER DARK DAY

 I KNOW YOU'RE LEAVING / I'M DROWNING IN PAIN
THE RIVER'S RISING / AND I CAN'T STOP THE RAIN

THE RIVER'S RISING FROM CAVERNS UNKNOWN
FROSTY ARMS REACHING / BREATH COLD AS STONE
I WANT TO HOLD YOU AND NEVER LET GO / NEVER LET GO

I SPOKE IN ANGER / YOU SAID IT'S ALRIGHT
THE RIVER SILENT / LIKE A THIEF IN THE NIGHT
BUT NOW SHE IS RAGING / SHE'S CALLING YOUR NAME
THE RIVER IS RISING / AND I CAN'T STOP THE RAIN
