Verse 1: She’s five years old and worldly wise
The apple of her daddy’s eyes
There’s not a thing she doesn’t know
Just ask her and she’ll tell you so
And when he tucks her in at night
Before he switches off the light
She always asks him for few
Stories she knows can’t be true

Dinosaurs once roamed across the land
The window that tonight you’re sleeping under
Was once a hundred thousand grains of sand
And the butterfly you chased this afternoon
Was just a caterpillar sprung from a cocoon

And she doesn’t want to go to bed

When he swears those silly things are real
