Artist:
Maya Solovey &
Robby Baier
Maya Solovey and her songwriting partner Robby Baier are First Place
winners in the Pop category of the 7th Annual Great American Song Contest.
Judges
selected their song "Linger" for the top honors. The judges
praised the song as "impressively crafted, lyrically poetic and
emotionally powerful."
Solovey
began playing music at age five. She played by ear, even to the point
of fooling her piano teachers, convincing them that she was reading
the music they gave her.
After trying
her hand at the life of the lone folk singer-songwriter in her late
teens, Maya switched instruments, from the guitar back to the piano,
and began honing her style towards pop. Her influences include Coldplay,
Tori Amos, Fiona Apple and Paula Cole.
Maya lives
in New York and plans to soon release a four-song EP titled ‘Dissolving’.
